I may get some good quail photos yet. Been feeding the local birds in the front yard, away from the mutt's influence and it seems that we now are getting visited by some quail. It is still early yet, but it is a start. If I can get them to except me as part of the lawn furniture, maybe I can get that photo I have needed for the project that has been ruminating in my brain.
On the note of photography, took some photos over the past few weeks of my favorite subject... CLOUDS!
( because they is a lot of pictures. )
And because we are on the Interwebs, the obligatory cat picture:

Yes, I have to vacuum my sewing table almost every day because of her ;-)
Say something if your reading;-)

Today, the war in Afghanistan, became very real. I know, I know, we have several friends who have gone over and left a part of themselves behind, but, today, word went out that a young man of my acquaintance was killed in action in Kandahar. He was a lovely young man. The kind most Mom's wouldn't mind their daughters dating. Very polite and rather amusing. Cute, too. While we shared many of the same friends, I must state that I didn't know him beyond the encounters at BAO's Fighter Practice and SCA events that we attended. But he did make an impression. He was 23 years old... Half my age... Way too young. As a mother, I just feel so much pain at the thought of losing a child. I cannot imagine the grief his mother is feeling this night. Even those friends who took him under their wings are in so much pain.
I will be praying for all those that grieve this night and that Nicholas Dickhut's Soul goes to the paradise that he believed in or wished for. He served his country and gave the ultimate sacrifice. Rest in Peace, Squire Jacques.

So, Joel and I were talking last week about what we wanted to do when the lease on our house came up in the middle of March. We decided that we weren't ready to move and were starting to think about a few improvements that we might be able to make the house more home. Well, got a note in the mail from the Property Managers today. The owners want to move back to Fallon, so they will not be renewing our lease... I hate moving, especially so soon after that big one..:-(
The good news is, I have been squirreling away some money so that we have some savings. If all goes well, we won't be doing a mad dash scrambling to pack and find the money for the move. AND it is only a cross town move, so we have plenty of time to pack, find a new house and, leisurely, move.
Just hope the new house isn't too far from here.

Just thought I would share this review from the Needle 'n Thread blog:
http://www.needlenthread.com/2011/11/mil lenium-embroidery-frame.html
I just love Mary Corbett's blog, she has a lot of interesting things going on. This frame looks really cool and wouldn't be too glaring at events. Though with a $80-100 (plus shipping from GB) price tag just for the base frame, it may be a few years before I get to try it. Besides, I currently have more frames than a body needs...
Working on getting the new website ready to debut. Keep your eyes out for Krazy Fiber Kat Designs!

Well, I didn't want to say anything until the job was secured, but since my hubby spilled the beans on FB, I figure I can discuss my recent presentation and upcoming interview. A month or so back, I submitted an application to the Churchill County Museum for the position of Education Curator. Now, other than a BA in Social Sciences, my professional life really doesn't have any relation to this job. However, reading the Description, I realised that I had a lot of experience doing the things that were listed due to the work I did with the University of Ithra. So, I applied and mentioned my work with Ithra in the context of the job. Well, I waited. I figured that listing the SCA would just kill my ability to get this job and that they probably had hired someone, but everyone around these here parts, say that I am perfect.
A week ago, I got the word that my resume had been selected to go through to next step which was the presentation. What this entailed was creating a small, self-contained "Traveling Trunk" that told a story of one of 6 subjects that the candidate chose. These "trunks" were to be geared towards a 4th grade Teacher and should be self explanatory to the subject matter. The "trunk" was to contain "artifacts" and any useful materials. Then we had to give a 15 minute presentation about the "Travelling Trunk", as though we were presenting to a teacher. For the last week, I have been running around trying to get this set up a presentation about The Newlands Project, the first of the Reclamation Act projects from 1902 - 1915. It has been rather fun, in that I got to go over to the Truckee-Carson Irrigation District offices and meet with some wonderful people who showed me their equipment and let me take some of their educational materials. Learned lots about how they made this desert liveable;-)
Today, was the day that I did my presentation. I had a spiffy PowerPoint presentation... it went well, except for some technical glitches...i.e. I talk faster than I can clicky to show my bullet points and I learned that if you aren't using your own computer, skip the cool film clips... no really, just skip them. They didn't work, so my "look how cool I am" moment was lost ;-? Anyway, I received a call this evening and they want me to come in on Thursday for the "second" interview. Hope this goes better and that I don't let my mouth get me in trouble.
Tomorrow, I am going to need to call a few people for Professional References...You know who you are:-))) The lesson I have learned from all this is do not underestimate the skills learned in the SCA, handled properly they may just get your foot in the door.

I am beginning to realise that I just don't have that much time for social Media. I am definitely going to need to make some decisions in the near future where I wish to be seen and heard from. But spending way too much time trying to keep up with everyone, I need time to sleep;-)

One of the things these dorks never take into account is the Southern California "accent" isn't an accent more than a conglomeration of so many accents that it has pretty much become a non-accent. I nor my parents have ever lived in these areas, so this is beyond wrong. In fact, I never see any answers for folks on West of the Rockies.
What American accent do you have?

Northern. Whether you have the world famous Inland North accent of the Great Lakes area, or the radio-friendly sound of upstate NY and western New England, your accent is what used to set the standard for American English pronunciation (not much anymore now that the Inland North sounds like it does).
If you are not from the North, you are probably one of the following:
(a) A Southerner who hates Southern accents and tries really hard to "talk right"; or
(b) A New Yorker or New Jerseyan who doesn't have the full accent
